Recently Frontwing launched the visual novel GINKA, and I had the opportunity to play it and I'm here to bring you an analysis of this interesting game. It's my first analysis of a visual novel, but I'll try to share what I thought of its characteristics.

GINKA is the latest visual novel from Frontwing best known for the Grisaia series, this time from the team behind ATRI -My Dear Moments-, the game promises to be a love story about a boy who returns to his hometown on an island and finds a long-lost childhood friend.

GINKA has an engaging narrative, it was enjoyable to follow and managed to keep me hooked, even during moments of discussion about the plot. It presents several supernatural elements, but in an uncomplicated and easy to follow way. The only negative point was the irregularity in the writing, it seems that some parts were written separately and then joined together, which generated a certain disconnection with points of the story that were somewhat "thrown" into the plot and were only revealed at the end.

The plot of the novel is quite simple, and can be summarized as "A girl who renounces her own feelings to save her beloved" and "A boy who continues to love her, regardless of the pain". Throughout the entire romantic story, one had the feeling that the protagonist was almost shouting "I will fall in love with you no matter what. Even if I die countless times, you will be the person my heart chooses." Although it was not something expressed directly, this was the feeling conveyed by the protagonist as his feelings would never change.

Overall, the drama seemed a little weak but the imbalance is what makes it strange, as I said it seems like they were written separately by different people and joined together in the timeline they wanted, some parts were surprising, others sad, but none of them really capture the story.. The same applies to the ending, which seemed to me to be a weak point in the story, even with a happy ending it could have been better.

Regarding the soundtrack, it does the basics, nothing very remarkable, but it is very pleasant. Unlike the arts, these are incredible, the drawings are beautiful and very detailed, I can say that this is perhaps the most beautiful visual novel I've played recently.

As I said, the half-played plot hinders the experience a little but overall it is quite competent, GINKA game is a good option for those looking for a romantic and casual story.

Ginka is now available for PC via Steam.
