Devolver Digital along with developer Free Lives have announced that their "reverse" city builder Terra Nil will be released for Nintendo Switch on December 18. The game had already been released on March 28th for PC via Steam and Netflix gaming services, and now Nintendo console players will be able to purchase it.

Terra Nil focuses on restoring the ecosystem of a desolate planet, and consists of challenging players with the complex objective of rejuvenating the environment. Complicated tasks are part of this experience, such as cultivating biodiversity, fixing the weather, and completely recycling structures used along this journey.

Terra Nil is a game that explores the transformation of devastated, lifeless landscapes into vibrant and fertile ecosystems. Transform dead soil into rich vegetation, clean polluted oceans, plant lush forests and create natural habitat for animals to call home. Then recycle your buildings without leaving a trace of your presence. Recover infertile land.

In Terra Nil players must embrace their ambitious sides to truly bring this world back to life, starting from scratch with developing a cleanly usable water system to purify the soil is the bare minimum that players will have to pursue to fulfill the ultimate goal of recovering the global environment.

Use advanced technology to purify the soil, producing plains, marshes, beaches, rainforests, wildflowers and more. Then, recycle everything you built, leaving the virgin environment for the animals that will be its new inhabitants.

Restoring various regions of the world will be the main objective of the game which will see players traverse the world with unique challenges specific to each region, such as weather patterns being selling points. Thanks to the procedural generation of landscapes, you will have a different experience every time you play Terra Nil. Plan your game around challenging and unpredictable randomly generated terrain that includes winding rivers, mountains, floodplains and oceans.

Each region of Terra Nil advances in phases, the ultimate goal being to leave virgin lands behind. Each level progresses not through infinite development, but through balancing and cultivating an environment before leaving it alone.

The maps in Terra Nil are beautifully hand-painted, with procedurally generated areas, ensuring a differentiated experience like no other. A “meditative soundtrack” and a general audio design following this philosophy seek to make this title a calm and relaxing game.

Terra Nil will arrive on Nintendo Switch on December 18th.
