Toei Animation announced during its panel at New York Comic Con that the Dragon Ball franchise will get a new anime: Dragon Ball Daima, and which is already scheduled to premiere in 2024. The series creator Akira Toriyama also confirmed that he is "deeply involved beyond his usual capacity" in this anime. He wrote entirely new episodes for the storyline.

In the new anime, Goku, Vegeta, Bulma and other characters from the series will be transformed into their child versions. However, this is different from a similar plot in the anime Dragon Ball GT, in which Goku reverts to a child after the end of the original series. Although the title "Daima" means nothing, the kanji can be interpreted as "Mal" in English.

According to Akira Toriyama himself:

Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends became small. To make things right, they will leave for a new world! It's a great adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world.

As Goku has to compensate for his small size, he uses his Nyoibo (Staff) to fight, something that hasn't been seen in a long time.

New information should be revealed during Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2024 which takes place between January 27th and 28th.
