Developer Game Island and publisher Toplitz Productions have announced that their newest first-person survival adventure game, SERUM, will be released on PC via Early Access on Steam on May 23.

Along with the announcement, they revealed a new CGI trailer that shows the game's protagonist, Adam, a survivor and patient of the EVAS Corporation, a pharmaceutical organization located on the island of Matamis. In a catastrophic turn of events, EVAS ultimately becomes responsible for the mutagenic incident, leaving Adam alone and fighting for himself in his search for answers.

SERUM promises an intense adventure that uncovers a chilling conspiracy in the shadow of a mutagenic pandemic and a world now in ruins. Determination and the will to survive will play a big role in how players navigate the environment as they search for sources of serum and create the means to survive.

SERUM is the essential elixir that can prolong life in the contaminated landscape and amplify abilities associated with speed, vision, and power. SERUM can also be used to enhance crafted weapons, which are essential for hunting or defending yourself from the mutated horrors that await you. Players will need to search for various items in the world that can be utilized and recycled or used to upgrade base facilities. Not only will players need to carefully manage their resources found as they explore the world, but they will also need to keep an eye on the passage of time, which continues to pass.

Survivors face the constant pressure of time, but they will also face the mutated monstrosities that populate the landscape, including aggressive fog wolves, bone-crushing boars, and even the relentless undead, remnants of workers who were infected and died.

The toxic haze covering parts of the landscape is a chilling reminder of the catastrophic impact on the environment. A player's survival is not guaranteed unless they can harness resources and cultivate an existence in this fragile but lethal world.

SERUM's unique timing mechanism, coupled with its serum creation and crafting system, paves the way for experimentation and discovery as players harness the serum's potent abilities in different locations. All of this is driven by a gripping narrative of conspiracy, cover-up, and scientific negligence.

Developer Game Island and publisher Toplitz Productions recently conducted a public playtest of SERUM while putting the finishing touches on the early access version of the game for PC. This follows its standout performance at Steam Next Fest in February this year, where it ranked among the top 50 most played demos and secured an impressive 17th position on the list of most followed demos during the event.

Players interested in adding SERUM to their wishlist or finding out more about the game can do so via from the games official page on Steam.
