Yesterday NVidia announced a partnership with the community of players and modders of the legendary Half-Life 2 to carry out a remake using the company's RTX technologies and give the game a new life. The remaster project is being developed by four of the top Half-Life 2 modding teams, now known as Orbifold Studios. They are working with the latest version of RTX Remix.

A first trailer of what to expect can be seen below:

"As with Portal, virtually every element is being rebuilt in high fidelity, and full ray tracing (also known as path tracing) is being utilized to bring cutting-edge graphics to Half-Life 2."

"In Half-Life 2 RTX, average world textures have 8 times more pixels, and elements like the suit have 20 times more geometric detail than the original game."

"It will now be possible to see in detail the fabrics around the joints of the suit, as well as the interaction between plastics and metals that make up the chest, legs and arms parts."

Modders are leveraging NVIDIA technologies including full ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 3, NVIDIA Reflex and RTX IO to deliver a fantastic experience for GeForce RTX gamers.

The Half-Life 2 remaster project is still in the early stages of development and the goal is to get the attention of new modders or even developers to support.

I like several different works, but with a tendency for strange and funny stories.

I like arts, games, drawings and interesting things.
