WayForward has announced on their official website that Shantae and the Seven Sirens will get a major free update, which will be released on November 30, 2021. The update titled "Spectacular SuperStar " will bring several improvements to the game, as well as new modes.
- Definitive Mode: The most challenging "director's cut", and featuring the classic difficulty of the series Shantae, with rebalanced items and magic consumption, as well as more boss fights Intense and new dialogues with the mermaids before each battle.
- Full Deck Mode: This is Definitive Mode with a twist. Start with all 50 monster cards to customize Shantae's abilities to your liking.
- Rule Breaker Mode: This is the Definitive Mode with no limits. You can equip up to 50 monster cards at once to gain maximum power.
- Beginner Mode: This is the Definitive Mode simplified. This easy mode makes it impossible to miss! Perfect for newcomers or those who just want to explore the world and enjoy history.

New content will be added to all current versions of the game, including the next physical release arriving on PlayStation 5. Legacy Mode will also be available for players who wish to experience the title in its original form. in addition, those who have completed the game at least once will be able to unlock the Hula Suit in all modes, granting more magic at the cost of lowering defense. Dialogs and markers will also be improved throughout the game.
