The official anime website The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) has unveiled a new teaser trailer that showcases the look of the anime, which is scheduled to debut in 2022.

Produced in the studio Nexus (Darwin's Game, Granbelm), the anime will be director Kazuya Nakanishi (Darwin's Game), screenwriter Kanichi Katou (Black Clover, Those Snow White) Notes), and character designs by Makoto Iino (Suppose a Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town, Demon Lord, Retry!) that adapts the original designs of ]Tōzai.
In the story, great heroes and devilish villains are the kind of characters people want to be, but that's not the case with Cid Kagenou. He aspires to become the brains behind it all, pulling the strings and making his machinations drive the story. In his previous life in Japan he couldn't achieve his goals, but now, reborn in a world of magic, he will show the true eminence of the shadow! While Cid pretends to be just another character, he recruits members of his (fake) "Shadow Garden" organization, with the goal of ending a mysterious cult that lurks in the shadows.
The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) is originally a light novel created by Daisuke Aizawa, who started publishing on the website Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let's) Become Novelists) in May 2018, winning the first publication printed by Kadokawa in November 2018 with artwork by Tōzai. The work also gained a manga adaptation released in the Comp Ace magazine in December 2018 created by Anri Sakano.
