The official website of AnimeFesta published on Wednesday the promotional video for the adaptation of Norito Asaduki's adult manga, Ren Arisugawa Is Actually a Girl (Arisugawa Ren tte Honto wa Onna Nanda yo ne.). The plot presents a curious premise that mixes celebrity life with secrets. Kyohei is an ordinary guy whose only connection to fame is being the cousin of Japan's most popular male idol, Ren Arisugawa. Kyohei's quiet routine is turned upside down when Ren shows up at his run-down apartment. The big twist comes when Kyohei discovers that the confident male figure on stage is actually a lovely girl backstage. Tension mounts as this secret—and the forced cohabitation—begin to transform their familial relationship into something much more intimate.
The animation is being produced by Studio Leo, directed by Sumito Sasaki. The series scripts are supervised by Iruka Taichō, while the character design is by Reina Nasu. The theme song featured in the video is "Boku to no Himegoto" (Our Secret), performed by Sammy.
The main cast includes:
- Yūki Nishiyama as Kyohei Arisugawa
- Amai Miruku as Ren Arisugawa
- Kanna Natsuki as Satsuki Yoshioka
- Noel Kanzaki as Momoka Hiiragi
As is tradition in works from this block (known to fans as "Sōryo-waku"), there will be two versions. Ren Arisugawa Is Actually a Girl will premiere its premium, uncensored version via streaming on AnimeFesta and OceanVeil (with English subtitles) on December 12, 2024. The censored TV version will air on Tokyo MX and BS11 starting January 4, 2025.
I like several different works, but with a tendency for strange and funny stories.
I like arts, games, drawings and interesting things.
