CAPCOM released a new explosive trailer for its upcoming major release, Resident Evil Requiem (known as Biohazard Requiem in Japan), during The Game Awards event last Thursday. The news that has fans buzzing is the confirmation of a second playable character: the iconic Leon Kennedy.

The trailer not only marks the return of one of the franchise's most beloved faces, but also reveals a gameplay structure that promises to appeal to different player styles.

Resident Evil Requiem establishes itself as the ninth title in the main series and is being described as the beginning of a new era of survival horror. The experience will be divided between two protagonists, each offering a distinct focus:

Grace Ashcroft: Will be the central character in the Survival Horror segments. Her focus will be on pure tension, resource management, and the sense of despair that defines the original essence of Resident Evil.

Leon Kennedy: Leon's segments will have a more action-oriented tone. This gameplay will be a clear homage to the style that made Resident Evil 4 (originally released in 2005) famous, where the player experiences a narrative with more direct and dynamic combat.

CAPCOM describes the title with the phrase "Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living," promising a breathtaking experience that aims to be terrifying and immersive. The company guarantees that technological advancements and the team's vast experience combine to deliver a story rich in characters and gameplay.

It's worth remembering that CAPCOM will also release Resident Evil 7: biohazard and Resident Evil Village for the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same date as Requiem, offering the Resident Evil Generation Pack for the new platform.

Resident Evil Requiem will be released on February 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
