This weekend Kadokawa revealed new details about the anime New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, including the team members and new art that shows the characters' appearance.

The Trigger studio is responsible for the anime directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi. Hiromi Wakabayashi is in charge of the script along with Imaishi. Wakabayashi also serves as conceptual planner. Atsushi Nishigori continues as the character's designer. Shigeto Koyama, Sushio, and Masaru Sakamoto, who previously worked on the original as animators or writers, are designing the characters. Yoh Yoshinari is listed as a “special expert.” Sushio and Mai Yoneyama are back to work on the new project. Yoneyama worked as a lead animator on the original anime Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, marking her debut as a lead animator. Sushio will work on the new project as an animator. He worked as an animation director and lead animator on the first anime.
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt was originally released in 2010, and had 13 episodes and with its irreverent narrative, exaggerated action scenes and distinctive visual style, it gained a large fan base.
The story follows two angel sisters, Panty and Stocking, who were expelled from heaven for their inappropriate behavior and now live in Daten City, a place infested by evil spirits called Ghosts. Panty is a sensual and promiscuous blonde who uses her panties as a weapon, turning them into a pistol. Stocking is a goth girl with a big sweet tooth who uses her socks as swords. They are supervised by Garterbelt, an African-American priest with a mysterious and questionable past, who gives them missions to exterminate the Ghosts and earn "Heaven Coins" so they can return to heaven.
