AnimeFesta announced this Thursday that the romantic comedy manga *Marika's Love Meter Malfunction* (Marika-chan wa Kōkando wa Bukkowareteiru), written by Rin Komugi, will receive an anime adaptation. The production promises to bring the peculiar story of romance and misunderstandings to TV screens in 2026.

The premise of the work deviates from the conventional by mixing elements of simulation games with real life. The story follows an unpopular young man who, desperate to win over his childhood friend, Marika, makes a wish upon a shooting star. Upon waking up, he realizes he has gained the ability to visualize "affection meters" on people, as if he were inside a game. However, when checking Marika's love level, he discovers that the meter is "broken," indicating a level so low it seems to have plummeted to hell. The conflict arises: if the meter says she hates him, why does she continue to be so kind to him?
It's worth highlighting the history of the production company involved. WWWave Corporation, owner of the AnimeFesta programming block (formerly known as Anime Zone), is famous for adapting works with more adult or ecchi content. In recent years, the company has produced more than 30 adaptations, many of which follow the "Sōryo-waku" format, offering two versions: a "broadcast" (censored for TV) and a "premium" (uncensored, distributed online). Given this history, it's likely that Marika's Love Meter Malfunction will follow this dual distribution model.
The original work began digital publication by Suiseisha last year and will get its print version with the first two volumes arriving on Japanese shelves on April 17th of next year.
The anime adaptation of Marika's Love Meter Malfunction is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
I like several different works, but with a tendency for strange and funny stories.
I like arts, games, drawings and interesting things.
