20th Century Studios has finally released the first official trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the highly anticipated sequel to Avatar: The Way of Water, which premiered exclusively in theaters last weekend. The previous film, Avatar: The Way of Water, was released on December 16, 2022.

The trailer for the third film in the Avatar franchise features the return of the main cast, including Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), the Na'vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family, as well as introducing new characters, new areas, and more intense action. Fans of cutting-edge computer graphics will certainly be impressed by the new trailer, which is packed with state-of-the-art motion capture (including the first underwater scenes), grandiose set pieces, and what appears to be a conclusion to the first trilogy.
Plot details for the new film are scarce, but we know it will introduce the new "People of Ash," led by Varang, played by Oona Chaplin. David Thewlis and Michelle Yeoh are also new additions to the cast, which also includes Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion, Bailey Bass and Kate Winslet. The film is directed by James Cameron, who also wrote the script alongside Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The story is developed by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.
Minor spoilers from the first two films are hinted at in this third installment, most notably that the new Ash clan is allying with the resurrected Colonel Miles Quaritch, played by Stephen Lang, with a major war breaking out between them and both the Sully family and the Metkayina clan (introduced in The Way of Water).
It's important to note that the third Avatar film has at least two more sequels planned, with director James Cameron having already stated that Stephen Lang will be the main antagonist in all four films.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is scheduled to be released exclusively in theaters on December 18, 2025.
I like several different works, but with a tendency for strange and funny stories.
I like arts, games, drawings and interesting things.
